May 24, 2006 <br />Bottomley and Associates prepared design concepts to address the issues <br />identified in the first community workshop with the understanding that <br />modifications to the project area are subject to Caltrans' approval. The purpose <br />of this second community workshop was to review the design recommendations, <br />provide comments and prioritize the recommendations. <br /> <br />Invitations to this second workshop were emailed to previous participants, San <br />Mateo County/Redwood City Chamber of Commerce Transportation and <br />Housing Committee, Sequoia Union High School District, San Mateo County <br />Peninsula Bike and Pedestrian Coalition. Flyers were posted in Whole Foods, <br />city facilities including the library, parks and recreation facilities and City Hall, <br />and distributed at the Chamber of Commerce's Latino Outreach Committee's <br />Business Mixer. The invitation notice also went out in the Redwood City e-news <br />bulletin and press release. <br /> <br />The results of Workshop #2 will be summarized by the consultant in the <br />presentation to Council. <br /> <br />Workshop #3 - June 5, 2006 <br />Staff determined that the third and final community workshop, for the purpose of <br />providing project information and receiving direction on the next step of applying <br />for capital grant funding, would be the June 5th Council meeting. Notices have <br />been sent to the Planning Commission as well as the past invitees mentioned <br />earlier in the report. <br /> <br />Next Steps <br />The EI Camino Real Community Mobility Improvement study was made possible by a <br />planning grant by MTC in order for local governments, transit operators, and other <br />public agencies to be in a competitive standing to apply for the MTC TLC capital grant <br />program. Upon receipt of Council's input and direction, the consultant will revise the <br />design concepts if needed, and provide the required documents to staff that will be <br />folded into the capital grant application, which is due to MTC on June 23,2006. <br /> <br />Grant amounts range from $500,000 to $3 million per project, with a total amount of $14 <br />million available this funding cycle. A local match of 11.5 percent of the total project <br />cost is required.
