Subtask 7.2 - Develop and Model Preliminary Solutions
The Consultant will review the model results to identify potential solutions for predicted
capacity deficiencies. Solutions may include upsizing or paralleling existing pipes,
upsizing existing pump stations, consolidating flows in new sewers or existing sewers
with available capacity, or implementing flow diversions at critical locations. The
Consultant will discuss and document these preliminary solutions with City staff and test
them out using the hydraulic model.
Subtask 7.3 — Evaluate Sewer Rehabilitation Effectiveness and Potential 0 Reduction
The City will identify areas of the system that have undergone previous sewer
rehabilitation and the locations and dates where City had conducted flow monitoring
prior to rehabilitation. Up to three areas will be analyzed to determine the potential
effectiveness of previous sewer rehabilitation. Using the hydraulic model, the Consultant
will simulate the flows in the current model for storm events that were monitored before
rehabilitation and compare the model -simulated flows to the previous flow monitoring
data. Based on these comparisons, the Consultant will analyze the data to estimate the
1/1 reductions achieved to the extent that the data supports such an analysis. The
Consultant will recommend criteria for selecting sites for future flow monitoring and a
methodology for future evaluation of rehabilitation effectiveness through use of flow
monitoring and modeling.
The Consultant will evaluate the 1/1 flow characteristics associated with the different
subbasins in the system (based on model results and flow monitoring data) and their
location with respect to identified capacity deficiencies, and identify areas that may be
suitable for rehabilitation efforts to reduce 1/1. The hydraulic model will be used to
evaluate various scenarios of 1/1 reduction to identify the amount of reductions that
would be necessary to eliminate needed capacity improvement projects.
Subtask 7.4 - Meeting with Selected City Staff
The Consultant will present and discuss information from Tasks 6 & 7.
Deliverables:
• Maps of model simulation results and preliminary solutions
• Meeting agenda, presentation materials, and minutes
TASK 8 - DEVELOP CAPACITY RELIEF PROJECTS
Subtask 8.1 - Develop and Evaluate Relief Project Alternatives
The Consultant will identify specific projects to relieve predicted capacity deficiencies in
the sewer system including pump stations. Potential alternative sewer alignments will
also be evaluated in cases where existing alignments would be difficult to access or
construct. Where existing sewers are identified as capacity deficient, the Consultant will
also review available CCTV records to develop viable construction alternatives that will
include needed rehabilitation or repair. The Consultant will review potential alignments
on aerial photography (e.g., Google Earth) or walk or drive the proposed major project
REV: 01-28-19 PR
ATTY/AGR.2019.012/Woodard & Curran
