Mike Santbrd, Equity Office Properties (Spieker Properties), explained the parking gates <br /> proposal and the three parking arm locations. He stated that the plans had been reviewed by <br /> the appropriate agencies. <br /> <br /> Gary Laymen, Landscape Architects, Inc., stated that all areas had been explored for <br /> development and explained the landscape plan. <br /> <br /> Suhrar Bashid, Fehr & Peers, explained the traffic study conducted by his firm. <br /> <br /> Bard Lauressen, Nelson/Nygaard, stated the benefits of the plan being trip reduction. He <br /> further stated that other opportunities such as walking and operating shuttles would be <br /> explored and implemented. <br /> <br /> Susan Saymoore, Spieker Properties, stated that without the arms there is no control of the <br /> parking and the program encourages people to be conscientious with parking issues. <br /> <br /> Public Comment: <br /> <br /> Mary Morrisey Parden thanked Council in support of her July 19 letter delineating reasons <br /> to support the appeal. She corrected a previous speaker by commenting that the speaker <br /> (Landscape Architects) had not contacted the Redwood Shores Owners Association. She <br /> further stated she was speaking as an individual and asked that Council consider Fred <br /> Kent's comments stating that the decision is critical to open access. <br /> <br /> Jeff ~3ee spoke in support of the appeal and asked that Council uphold the appeal. <br /> <br /> Lynn Kathleen Adams, representing Redwood Shores Homeowners Association, <br /> encouraged Council to uphold the appeal and stated that the Shores Business Center <br /> Association does not represent the majority. <br /> <br /> Patricia Dixon requested support of the appeal on behalf of Redwood Shores Owners <br /> Association. <br /> <br /> Frank Deighan asked that Council reject the appeal. <br /> <br /> Carol Ford asked that Council uphold the appeal. <br /> <br /> Pat Becker stated she wrote a letter in support of Spieker Properties. <br /> <br /> Don Warren stated the decision would not create a precedent and that the project is of the <br /> highest quality. <br /> <br />REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING JULY 23, 2001 <br />MINUTES PAGE 6 <br />MINUTES Book No. 58 <br />Page No. 470 <br /> <br /> <br />
