The Fire <br />Captain shall not be the primary medic on any piece of fire <br />apparatus. <br />Fire Captains that retain the Paramedic eeft;fleati .n accreditation <br />will be subject to all County and Redwood City Paramedic <br />requirements including continuing education (CE). Fire Captains <br />with euFrnent Paramedic ceFt0 ;eatien accreditation in San Mateo <br />County will be the first Fire Captains eligible to receive <br />_WYs Paramedic pay. <br />The Fire Chief shall have final authority on the number of Fire <br />Captains authorized to receive Carga r aramedic e�}0� n <br />pay. <br />As <br />As medics are promoted to the classification of Fire Captain, the Fire <br />Chief will determine the business need for additional Fire <br />Captain/Paramedics. If the business need is fulfilled no others will <br />be added to the system unless a vacancy occurs or the business <br />need increases, as determined by the Fire Chief. If more than one <br />Fire Captain is promoted at the same time, available slots will be <br />filled according to their ranking on the Fire Captain's promotional <br />list.
