Task 3.4.1 Community Workshop #1:
For the first round of public outreach, the City and Consultant shall collaborate on a multi-
faceted workshop. The City will host the neighborhood -based workshop to kick off the process
and to share an overview of existing conditions and summaries completed in Task 2. The
purpose of this workshop will be to gather input from the community on the issues and
opportunities related to traveling along Roosevelt Avenue.
At the same time, Consultant shall lead a stakeholder walk audit. The goal of the walk audit is to
allow for site-specific and stakeholder -specific issue identification and visioning. Focus shall be
on issues ranging from the pedestrian realm, bicycle facilities, bus stop passenger waiting
environment, streetscape design, and location -specific opportunities for traffic calming.
Around the same timeframe as the first community workshop, a user-friendly online interactive
mapping tool and/or survey will be developed and implemented by City staff (Task 3.1). City will
keep the survey open for 2-3 weeks to give public the opportunity to submit comments. City will
provide the collected information and comments to Consultant to be incorporated into the
outreach summary and alternative concept components of this project.
City will advertise the online survey through various channels such as Nextdoor, City's Facebook
page, and during the community workshop. Consultant shall use the online survey to assemble a
mailing list for future project events and announcements.
Task 3.4.2 Community Workshop #2:
The focus of the second round of outreach will be to present refined alternatives for the corridor
in an "open studio" format, culminating in a voting exercise to provide community input on
what may ultimately become the preferred alternative. The focus shall be on understanding
multi -modal tradeoffs and clearly articulating the preferred community vision. The content shall
be heavy on concept graphics prepared by Consultant that are easily legible to the public and
clearly and succinctly demonstrate concepts. Workshop graphics shall include overall corridor
diagrams and 3D cross-sections.
Consultant shall work with City staff to create an online survey to align with the content and
purpose of the second community workshop. The survey will be an online alternative to the in-
person community workshop. The online survey shall include the same visuals and voting
exercise used in the workshop.
Deliverables:
Agenda and handouts for the walk audit, including a route map, to align with the first
community workshop
"Online open house" survey materials to align with the second community workshop
Page 14 of 20
REV: 03-28-19 PR
ATTY/AGR.2019.075/Fehr and Peers
