roots shall be exposed without damage to roots to allow inspection by the City. <br />Any roots that are three (3) inches in diameter or smaller may be cut as needed. <br />Any roots larger than three inches in diameter must be inspected by City prior to <br />cutting. Roots shall be cut using hand tools, chain saws or stump grinder at the <br />direction of the City. <br />iv. Contractor is responsible for repairing/replacing existing drain line and irrigation <br />systems that are damaged during demolition or construction. <br />V. All utility trenches are to be T -trenched as per City Engineering Standards. <br />B. Contractor shall replace/install sidewalks, asphalt, curbs/gutters, and ADA <br />ramps. <br />Removal of concrete curb and gutter work shall include the saw cutting, removal <br />and disposal of the particular item specified, and shall include the base, and all <br />its appurtenances to the appropriate depth below finished grade for the thickness <br />of the concrete item, plus four inches thick base rock. Sites may require greater <br />or lesser excavation and greater tree root removal by Contractor if the existing <br />grade has been raised above or settled below final grade. <br />Saw cutting shall be made <br />a. At the end of the sidewalk, curb and gutter, and wheelchair ramp <br />construction <br />b. At the nearest score line on sidewalks <br />c. At the outside edge of the border on wheelchair ramps <br />d. To the full depth of the concrete to insure clean separation of concrete and <br />no resultant spalling. <br />ii. Work shall include all grading, the appropriate width and 4" depth of Class 2 <br />aggregate base, subgrade compaction, base compaction, expansion joint <br />material, dowels, slip dowels, forming, concrete pouring, scoring, finishing, form <br />stripping, removal of concrete pour -over, and topsoil backfill. Sidewalks may be <br />relocated as designated by the City's project manager. <br />iii. Contractor is responsible to check and monitor all concrete pours for graffiti or <br />damage. Sidewalk finish that contains graffiti or damage will not be accepted as <br />complete. <br />iv. Work shall include the saw cutting, removal and disposal of the particular <br />concrete item specified, and shall include the base and all its appurtenances to <br />the appropriate depth below finished grade for the thickness of the concrete item, <br />plus four inches thick base rock. Concrete removal shall include any thickness of <br />concrete encountered during excavation. Sites may require greater or lesser <br />excavation and greater tree root removal if the existing grade has been raised <br />above or settled below final grade.
