Area separation walls shall be without openings <br />and shall be not less than four-hour fire <br />resistive construction in types I, II or III <br />buildings and not less than two-hour fire resis- <br />tive construction in types IV or V buildings, as <br />these types are defined in the Uniform Building <br />Code; . <br /> <br />"12. Area separation walls shall extend to the outer <br />edges of horizontal projecting elements such as <br />balconies, roof overhangs, canopies and archi- <br />tectural projections where such elements extend <br />more than 30 inches beyond the aqjacent wall <br />face; and when a building or structure has a <br />setback, offset or other similar feature such <br />wall shall extend to the furthest limit of the <br />building or structure: <br /> <br />1113. Area separation walls shall extend from the <br />foundation to a point at least 30 inches above <br />the roof except as follows: <br /> <br />~I (i) Area'separation walls may terminate at <br />the underside of the roof sheathing <br />provided the roof is of at least two- <br />hour fire resistive construction; <br /> <br />"'(1'1') T h t 11 <br />wO-.our area separa ion wa s may <br />terminate at the underside of the roof <br />sheathing provided that the roof is of <br />at least one-hour fire resistive con- <br />struction for a width of not less than <br />five feet on each side of the area · <br />separation wall termination; <br /> <br />.., (iii) Two-hour separation walls may terminate <br />at the underside of the roof sheathing <br />when the roof construction is of entirely <br />noncombustible materials; <br /> <br />"'4.
