<br />thickness shall be provided directly under the <br />concrete slab membrane to retard capillary action <br />and shall be approved by the Building Official. <br /> <br />"4. On level lots the elevation of the concrete <br />floor slab shall be one foot (I') above sidewalk <br />level. On unimproved lots or sloping ground a <br />one foot (I') elevation must be maintained above <br />finished grade level. <br /> <br />"Section 9.46 <br /> <br />Section 4503 of the Building Code is <br /> <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"section 4503 The space adjoining a building <br />above or below a sidewalk on public property may <br />be used and occupied in connection with the building <br />for any purpose not inconsistent with this Code <br />or other laws or ordinances regulating the use <br />and occupancy of such spaces on condition that <br />the right so to use and occupy may be revoked by <br />,the City at any time and that the owner of the <br />building will construct the necessary walls and <br />footings to separate such space from the building <br />and pay all costs and expenses attendant therewith. <br /> <br />"Footings located at least eight feet below grade <br />may project not more than 12 inches. <br /> <br />"Section 9.47 <br /> <br />Section 4506 of the Building Code is <br /> <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 4506 (a) Definition. Movable awning <br />is a movable shelter supported entirely from the <br />exterior wall of a building and of a type which <br />can be retracted, folded or collapsed against the <br />face of a supporting building. <br /> <br />"Such awning or hood may extend over public property <br />not more than seven feet (7') from the face of a <br />supporting building nor within two feet (2') of <br />the curb line measured horizontally. <br /> <br />"Collapsible awnings shall be so designed that <br />they shall not block a required exit when collapsed. <br /> <br />"Collapsible awnings, unless cloth covered, shall <br />be designed for a vertical live load of not less <br />than five pounds per square foot; except that <br />snow load shall be used, if greater. <br /> <br />II (b) Movable Avrnings or Hoods. Movable awnings <br />or hoods may have combustible coverings supported <br />on incombustible frames attached to the building. <br /> <br />II Such avvning or hood ffi2,Y extend over the public <br />property not more than two-thirds the distance <br />from the property line to the nearest curb in <br />front of the building site. <br /> <br />-12- <br />
