<br />"All portions of any awning shall be at least <br />eight feet (8') above any public walkway. <br /> <br />"EXCEPTION: Any valance atta.ched to an awning <br />shall be of cloth unless it is fabricated of <br />the same material used for the roof of the <br />awning. A metal valance may have a reinforcing <br />member at or near the lower edge. The valance <br />shall not project above the roof of the awning <br />at the point of attachment and shall not extend <br />more than twelve inches (12") below the roof of <br />the awning at the point of attachment: nor <br />shall any portion of a valance be less than <br />seven feet (7') in height above a public way. <br /> <br />"(c) Fixed A~~inqs or Hoods. Fixed a\vnings or <br />hoods shall be constnlcted of incombustible <br />materials and shall be designed in accordance <br />with Chapter 23 of the 1967 Uniform Building Code, <br />sections 2303 through 2308, excepting that in no <br />case shall the unit live load or wind pressure <br />.be considered at less than 20 pounds per square <br />foot (20#/sq.ft.). <br /> <br />"ARTICLE VI. HOUSING CODE. <br /> <br />(a) Pursuant to section 50022.1, et seq., <br /> <br />"Section 9.60 <br /> <br />of the Government Code and Section 15 of the Charter of the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City, the 'Uniform Building Code, Volume III, <br /> <br />Housing, 1967 Edition,' as published by the International <br /> <br />Conference of Building Officials, is hereby adopted and <br /> <br />shall be in effect within the City of Redwood City to the <br /> <br />same extent as if set out in full herein except as expressly <br /> <br />amended by the provisions of this article. The Appendix <br /> <br />thereto is specifically adopted and shall be enforceable to <br /> <br />the same extent as if contained in the body of said code. <br /> <br />"(b) In the event of any conflict between the provisions <br /> <br />of the Uniform Building Code, Volume III, Housing, 1967 <br /> <br />Edition, hereinafter referred to as the Housing Code, and <br /> <br />the provisions of this chapter, the provisions of this <br /> <br />chapter shall apply. <br /> <br />Section H-202 of the Housing Code is <br /> <br />"Section 9.61 <br /> <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />-13- <br />
