<br />Discharge unit values shall be as sho\vn in <br />Table 4-3 (a) . <br /> <br />section 1003.1 is hereby added to the <br /> <br />"section 9.96 <br /> <br />Plumbing Code as follows: <br /> <br />"section 1003.1 Air Chambers. All faucets on <br />the interior of a building, excepting on water <br />heaters and at tub and shower valves, shall be <br />provided with air chambers or other approved <br />devices of piping equal in size to the risers <br />supplying the faucets and shall not be less than <br />16 inches long. <br /> <br />II section 9.97 <br /> <br />section 1007 of the Piumbing Code is <br /> <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 1007 (a) Inadequate Water Pressure. <br />Whenever the water pressure in the main or other <br />. source of supply will not provide a water pressure <br />of at least 15 pounds per square inch, after allow- <br />ing for friction and other pressure losses, a <br />tank and pump or other means which will provide <br />said 15 pound pressure shall be installed. <br /> <br />" (b)'. An approved type pressure regulator preceded <br />by an adequate strainer shall be installed and <br />the pressure reduced to 80 pounds per square inch. <br />Each such regulator and strainer shall be access- <br />ibly located and shall have the strainer readily <br />accessible for cleaning without removing the <br />regulator or strainer body or disconnecting the <br />supply piping. All pipe size determinations <br />shall be based on 80 per cent of the reduced <br />pressure. <br /> <br />"(c) If a pressure regulating device or a check <br />valve is installed between the source of supply <br />and a water heater or closed hot water tank, an <br />approved adequately sized pressure relief valve <br />shall be installed. <br /> <br />II (d) Each pressure relief valve shall be an <br />approved automatic type with drain, and each <br />such relief valve shall be set at a pressure of <br />not more than 125 pounds per square inch. <br /> <br />"(e) Relief valves located inside a building <br />shall be provided with a full size drain of <br />galvanized steel or hard drawn copper piping and <br />fittings and shall extend from the valve to the <br />outside of the building with the end of the pipe <br />not more than two feet nor less than six inches <br />above the ground and pointing down'ilard. Such <br />drain may tenninate at other approved locations. <br />No part of such drain pipe shall be trapped and <br />the terminal end of the drain pipe shall not be <br />threaded. <br /> <br />-25- <br />
