<br />any zoning district where side yards are not required or on any <br /> <br />lot in any district where, in fact, no side yard is proposed, <br /> <br />unless all electric, communication and other similar services <br /> <br />are so installed so as to be readily adaptable to receive un- <br /> <br />derground service at such time as underground service is <br /> <br />available. <br /> <br />"DIVISION 4. <br /> <br />SUBDIVISIONS <br /> <br />The provisions of this division shall be <br /> <br />"Sect ion 11. 60 <br /> <br />applicable to the following subdivisions of real property approved <br /> <br />by the City after the effective date of this division: <br /> <br />"(a) Every subdivision containing five or more lots. <br /> <br />"(b) Every subdivision establishing a new street right of <br />way or an extension of an existing right of way. <br /> <br />"(c) Every subdivision, regardless of the number of lots, <br />which lies contiguous to an existing subdivision in which <br />electric, communication and other service and utility <br />facilities were installed underground pursuant to this <br />article or which lies contiguous to an underground <br />utility district. This division shall not apply to any <br />lots in a subdivision that are immediately adjacent to <br />existing overhead facilities and can be served from <br />such facilities without the installation of any new <br />pole. <br /> <br />"Section 11. 61 <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful for any person, includ- <br /> <br />ing subdividers and utility companies, to install or cause the <br /> <br />installation of any pole, overhead wire or associated overhead <br /> <br />structures in any subdivision described in Section 11.60, except <br /> <br />as permitted by Sections 11.60 and 11.62. <br /> <br />"Section 11.62 <br /> <br />All service and utility distribution facilities <br /> <br />(Including but not limited to electric, communication and cable <br /> <br />television lines) to be installed in and for the purpose of supply- <br /> <br />ing service to any new subdivision as defined in Section 11.60, <br /> <br />shall be placed underground with the following exceptions: <br /> <br />"(a) The following equipment appurtenant to underground <br />facilities: surface mounted transformers, pedestal <br />mounted terminal boxes and meter cabinets, and con- <br />cealed ducts; <br /> <br />"(b) Poles used exclusively for police and fire alarm boxes <br />or any similar municipal equipment installed under the <br />supervision and to the satisfaction of the City Engi- <br />neer; and <br /> <br />- 7 - <br />
