City of Redwood City

Redwood Shores Branch Library

SCOPE OF SERVICES

To complete our geotechnical services for the project, we will review the final foundation and
grading plans and observe the geotechnical aspects of the earthwork and foundation
construction. In accordance with local regulatory requirements and accepted geotechnical
practice in this area, we recommend that we be present on at least a part-time basis to
observe the geotechnical aspects of the following construction activities as your
representative:

lit Mass Grading
lit Pile Installation
lit Storm Drain Trench Backfill
lit Sewer Trench Backfill
lit Water/Fire Line Trench Backfill
lit Electrical/Gas Trench Backfill
lit Sidewalk Subgrade and Aggregate Base
lit Pavement Subgrade and Aggregate Base
lit Pavement Asphalt Concrete

Our engineering
technicians use hand-
held radios to
communicate directly
with our project
engineers, saving you
time and money

In addition to observing the geotechnical aspects of the above construction activities, we will
perform field and laboratory testing to confirm our observations. We will also provide
consultation, project management and correspondence, as needed for the project.

The purpose of our geotechnical observation and testing would be to provide you with the

following benefits:

1. Observing the actual soil conditions for similarity with materials observed during our
investigation. If the lateral extent or the actual materials vary significantly, we will revise
our recommendations as needed; and

2. Observing the geotechnical aspects of the earthwork construction to form an opinion
about the general conformance of the project work with our recommendations and project
specifications.

TRe Lo,T,ney

Page 2
P15878
