6.1 F <br /> Page 26 <br /> through a physical examination of the employee by a physician <br /> appointed by the City. <br /> 9.7.3 The employee on leave shall be returned to an equivalent position <br /> within her classification. <br /> 9.8 Absenc� Notification <br /> Faiture on the part of an employee to report for duty or notify the designated <br /> management official one-hatf (1/2) hour prior to the employee's scheduled <br /> starting time as tfl a reasan why the emplo�,�e� cannot report may subject the <br /> emplayee to disci�linary actic�n. <br /> 9.9 8ereavement Leave <br /> 9.9.1 In the event of a death in the immediate family of an employee of the <br /> City, that employee shatt, upon request, be granted such time off with <br /> pay as is necessary to make arrangements for the funeral and attend <br /> same, not to exceed three (3) regularty scheduled workin� days or <br /> four (4) days in the event the funeral is 300 or more mites from the <br /> City. <br /> 9.9.2 For the purpose af this provision, the immediate famity shall be <br /> restricted to father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, domestic <br /> partner, child, half brother, half sister, step brother, step sister, <br /> mother-in-law, father-in-law, �randparent, grandparent- in-law, �reat <br /> grandparent, grandchild, great grandchild, stepfather, stepmoCher, <br /> s�epchild and step grandchild. <br /> 9.9.3 In the event of the death of an active City errtployee, the City wilt <br /> excuse (without toss of pay) those employees who wish to attend the <br /> [oca[ly conducted funerat onty to the extent it does not interfere with <br /> the operatian of the City. <br /> 9.9.4 Bereavement leave applies only in instances in which the employee <br /> attends the funeral, or is required to make funerat arrangements, but <br /> is not applicable for other purposes, such as settting the estate of the <br /> deceased. <br /> 9.10 Famitv and Medical Leave <br /> 9.10.1 In accordance with the California Family Rights Act of 1991 and the <br /> Family and Medicat Leave Act of i993, re�ular part-time and full-�ime <br /> employees with one year or more of service are entitted to leave to a <br /> maximum of 12 weeks in a 12-month period (or 16 weeks in a 24- <br /> month period): <br /> 23 <br /> _ _ _ <br />
