A Police Officer <br /> Trainee who has not compleCed the required basic P.O.S.T training academy <br /> shall be considered a locat miscellaneous retirement employee for att purposes <br /> and will only be considered a safety retirement member on the first (1st} day <br /> he or she is assigned to regular potice duties. <br /> 11.2 Promoted �mp[ovees <br /> All promotionat appointments shatl be tentative and subject to a probationary <br /> period of twetve (12) months of service from the date of appointment. During <br /> fihe probationary period an employee may be rejected at any time by the City <br /> M�n��er upt�n recomm�ncl�ti�n nf th? Poticp Chief. Any reQUlar emptoy�e <br /> rejected during the probationary period fottowing a promotional appointment <br /> shall be reinstated to the position from which he ar she was promoted untess <br /> conditions warrant his or her dismissat. <br /> Upon satisfactory completion of such probationary period, the employee shalt <br /> be appointed to a regutar futt-time p�sition in that ctassification. <br /> SECTION 12. PROMOTION <br /> '[2.9 Examination <br /> In the event ihe City desires to fill a vacancy by promotion, the Personnet <br /> Officer shall prepare and administe� an examination for those emptoyees <br /> hotding simi(ar positiflns in lower classes. <br /> Promotional examinations scheduled by the City during an employee's regular <br /> working hours may be taken without any loss in compensation. <br /> 12.2 Eli�ib[e List <br /> The names of the successful qualified candidates shall be recorded on an <br /> eligible list. Eligibte lists shall continue in effect one (1) year after <br /> establishment. The name of any per5on on an eligible lisfi may be removed by <br /> the Personnet Office if the eligible person requests in writing that his or her <br /> name be removed, or if he or she fails to respond to a written offer of <br /> emptoyment within five (5) business days next succeeding the mailing of <br /> notice, <br /> If a candidate waives an offer of employment the candidate shalt be removed <br /> from the etigibte tist. <br /> 30 <br />
