3. Washington's Birthday (Observed on the third Monday in February) <br /> 4. Memorial Day (Observed on the last Monday in May) <br /> 5. Independence Day <br /> 6. Two administrative holidays, and such other days as may be proclaimed <br /> local holidays. <br /> <br />8.2 Saturday and Sunday Holidays <br /> <br /> When any of the above holidays falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be <br /> considered the holiday. When any of the above holidays falls on Sunday, the <br /> following Monday shall be considered the holiday. <br /> <br />8.3 Work on a Holiday <br /> <br /> Any employee who is required to work on any of the holidays specified in <br /> Section 8.1 above shall, in addition to regular pay for such holiday, be paid one <br /> and one-half (1-1/2) times his/her established rate of pay for all hours actually <br /> worked on such holiday. <br /> <br />8.4 Holiday During Vacation or Sick Leave <br /> <br /> In the event any of the holidays specified in Section 8.1 above occurs while an <br /> employee is on vacation or sick leave, the holiday shall not be charged as <br /> vacation or sick leave. <br /> <br />8.5 Holiday CompensaUon for Fire Fighter and Fire Captain <br /> <br /> Each employee in the classifications of Fire Fighter and Fire Captain assigned to <br /> a twenty-four (24) hour duty schedule shall be exempt from the provisions of <br /> Sections 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4 above, and shall receive no additional <br /> compensation in the form of pay or time off in the event the employee is <br /> required to work on any of the days set forth in Section 8.1. <br /> <br /> Fire Fighters and Fire Captains who are in a no-pay status (e.g. on leave of <br /> absence or Family Medical Leave) will receive holiday compensation on a <br /> prorated basis. <br /> <br /> In lieu of any holiday benefits, each employee shall receive compensation in the <br /> amount of one and one-half (1-1/2) times his/her pay, calculated on the basis <br /> of an eight (8) hour day, for eighty (80) hours in each calendar year. Such <br /> compensation shall be issued in the amount of forty (40) hours on the first pay <br /> day on or immediately following .~une 1, and an additional forty (40) hours on <br /> the first pay day on or immediately following December 1.
