9A

The remaining 17 recommendations are briefly discussed on pages two through four of the Page 3
attached memo to the City Manager (Attachment 6). Many of these items would benefit
from the input and discussion with the Urban Forestry Board. Many of these
recommendations will require Council action to update ordinances or adopt policy
recommendations. Other items will have a budget impact. Once the scope of the different
recommendations with overarching policies and practices are better defined, staff will
propose the action and budget impacts to Council for consideration.

Staff is prepared to move forward with the Tree Policy Task Force recommendations. The
five recommended actions are the initial steps to implement the first 6 task force
recommendations and lay the foundation to address the remaining 17 task force
recommendations.

Alternatives
(1) Do not approve any or all of the 5 recommended action steps. For any
recommendations not approved or adopted, staff will continue to administer the activity
within the current policies and conditions.

(2) Approve any or all of the 5 recommended action steps at a different level or intensity
than recommended. Staff will administer the activity under the new guidelines and
conditions.

Approving any of the recommendations at a different level may have staffing or budget
implications that staff will need to evaluate and report back to Council.

Fiscal Impact
There is limited fiscal impact to approving the five recommendations. There will be staff
time involved in forming the Urban Forestry Board and working with them on assignments.
As staff works with and supports the newly appointed Urban Forestry Board, there may be
decisions and recommendations that could have budget impacts.

Staff will bring any of these situations before Council for review and approval or adoption
as appropriate.

Vl L~'l'rl.,
.".,.}
I .Jt7,,; '..- i Jt I{,!.;......
Gofdon Mann - -..
Public Works Superintendent

~~ 3"7T~
Lar arwacz
Pub IC Works ServIces Director

.
