As a businessperson, <br /> not a business owner, he asked that Main Street get rolling. <br /> Bill Butler, business owner and member of the community, stated his belief that <br /> the decisions made on the Plan will impact whether Redwood City stays the way it <br /> is or moving forward. He referred to the Franklin Street project that began 12 year <br /> ago and things have been quiet for the last decade. He further stated that <br /> because time kills all projects, he would like to see the Plan move forward. <br /> Joel Butler, grew up in the area and graduated from Woodside High, and is now a <br /> professional engineer. After reviewing the Plan she found it to be well thought out <br /> and balanced. It provides guidance and flexibility while fostering affordable <br /> housing and continuing the revitalization of downtown. <br /> Jim Bigelow, representing the Redwood City/San Mateo County Chamber of <br /> Commerce, referred to the Chamber's letter expressing strong support for the <br /> Plan. He explained the history of the area dating back to 1947 and stated that it <br /> has changed and improved. He stated that the Chamber encourages the Council <br /> to adopt the Plan, implement it and make sure the transportation area down by <br /> the station is the type where you can walk through a pleasant connection with <br /> Caltrain and the bus systems. <br /> Tim Fanelli stated that the real wealth is in home businesses because there is no <br /> longer job security. He stated that he would like to see the community become a <br /> sanctuary for home business operators as well as companies and corporations. <br /> M/S Ira/Foust to close the public hearing.
