7A
Page 2
Over the past two years, the Police Department has utiiized the services of i#s
internaf automation committee and the services of a consultant to conduct a
needs assessment. The automation committee, with the assistance of the City's
lnformation Technology Department, has made several site visits to a number of
police departments to view the various software systems offered by vendors. As
a result of these efforts, Sun Ridge Systems was identified as the vendor that
provides the software that meets the current and future needs of the Police
Department fo an integrated CAD, RMS, MDC and report writing software
system. The City's Information Technology Department also supports the
selection of this vendor.
Sun Ridge Systems solutions are iul(y integrated. Their products are buil# to
work from a common database. This integration extends to other agencies
equipped wi#h Sun Ridge Systems software. For example, a Redwood City
palice afficer checking on a person vr vehcle woufd be notified of any contacts
that occurred in neighboring communities fike San Carlos, Belmont or Menlo
 Park.
With the Sun Ridge Systems software information is entered once, whether by an
officer in the field writing a report, a clerk at tMa sta#ion, or a dispa#cher in #he
communications center. The system's design decreases staff work load while
increasing the availability and accuracy of information. The informaiion retained
by the system is easily retrievable by any operator and is avaiiable for access
within hours or minutes; not days or weeks as is the current standard with L.ucent
Technologies. The software has powerfu! crime anafysis toois that are availabie
to all users and da not require specialized training or third party applications.
Offic;ers reporting for duty can access maps and reparts showing activity that
occurred while they were away.
Within San Matea County, six police agencies utilize the Sun Ridge Systems,
inc. software; this provides for infiormation sharing and connectivity which would
not otherwise be possible with disparate CAD systems. Each of these San
Maieo County agencies is satis#ied with the software system, the annuaf
upgrades and support provided by Sun Ridge Systems, Inc. We have
discovered no agencies iht use the Sun Ridge System, inc. software who are
dissatisfied with the software or the vendar.
Sun Ridge Systems Inc. currently supports and has their systems working in
approximately 100 police agencies throughout Cal'rfornia and other states. The
Police Department has attended the 2004 and 2005 Sun Ridge Systems Enc_
user conferences and spoken with numerous users fram police agencies in
Caiifomia and neighboring states. We have found users to be sa#isfied wi#h the
software system, its annual upgrades and the vendor's service.
