7A
Page 83

How do emergency vehicles move, even with emergency vehicle preemption, 1
when you bave traffic gridlock? f6\ I
\:::.r

When Costco fIrst proposed it's project, to the Planning Commission in April
2005, the planning commission voiced concern about the Willow Street entrance and the
Tire Bay's proposed location near Middletield Road. I am still concerned about both of
these issues.
The curren~ plan still has the Tire Service Area near Middlefield Road. Costeo
feels that if they bounce the noise off the Safekeep wall and back into the tire area,
everything will be fine. What about those employees that have to work in that space?
Do we really need another light between Charter Street and Woodside Road? AIl
the arguments for the new intersection for Costco' primary entrance just do not make a
lot of sense.
There is a discussion about storm water runoff in the ElR, related to volume and
slope. The planning commission might not realize that there are sub~standard conditions
near Hoover Park. Ifthere were a fuel spill, it might end up on the artificial sports field in
heavy rain conditions. Our Parks Dept. can inform you about the bad drainage situation

Please take into consideration the comment ietters from the:

1) California PUC page 3w15 FEIR
2) California Department of Transportation page 3.17 and 3-24
3) County of San Mateo Public Works page 3~27

These Comment Letters raise important issues that should not be ignored and raise a
number of questions about the thoroughness of this ElR.

In closing. I would like to thank you for your time.
Help us improve our quality of life.

Mark Soulard

4
