6.A. - Page 3 of 21
FISCAL IMPACT
The proposed contracts result in new funding of $307,500 and an outlay of $150,000 to support these
Redwood City 2020 projects. As such, these proposals include sufficient funding to cover all costs and do
not require the appropriation of funds or new funding and no movement of funds between projects is
required.
The jointly developed proposal by Redwood City 2020 and the Redwood City School District to the Chan
Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) was approved and funded by CZI with the understanding that Redwood City
2020 would be a subcontractor to RCSD and Communities in Schools would be a subcontractor to
Redwood City 2020. CZI recognizes that Redwood City 2020 and the nationally recognized community
schools consultant, Communities in Schools are uniquely qualified to meet the required deliverables.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may elect not to authorize the City Manager to execute the agreements thereby denying
CZI's grant funding to Redwood City 2020 to fund the Pipeline of Success and Socio for Success programs.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A: Agreement between the City of Redwood City Acting as Fiscal Agent for Redwood City 2020
and Redwood City School District
Attachment B: Agreement between the City of Redwood City Acting as Fiscal Agent for Redwood City 2020
and Communities In Schools
REPORT PREPARED BY:
Deanna La Croix, Management Analyst
dlacroix@redwoodcity.org
(650) 780-7308
APPROVED BY:
Melissa Stevenson Diaz, City Manager
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
10
