6.B. - Page 1 of 42 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: June 10, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Approval to Execute Amendment to Agreement with the County of San Mateo for Information and <br />Referral Services at the Fair Oaks Community Center <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to Execute the Amendment to the Agreement <br />between the County of San Mateo and the City of Redwood City to provide critical Safety Net Services to <br />vulnerable low income County residents at the Fair Oaks Community Center for the term of July 1, 2019 <br />to June 30, 2021 (FY 2019-20 and FY 2020-21) <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Community for All Ages <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 1982, the County of San Mateo first contracted with the City of Redwood City to provide information <br />and referral services at the Fair Oaks Community Center to low-income residents of Redwood City, North <br />Fair Oaks, Woodside, Atherton, and Portola Valley. Since that time, the program has grown to meet the <br />demand for services with joint funding from both the County and the City. Approximately 80 percent of <br />the residents seeking services are from Redwood City and approximately 20 percent of the residents <br />seeking services are from unincorporated North Fair Oaks. <br />Fair Oaks Community Center is one of eight "core" agencies providing safety net services throughout San <br />Mateo County. <br />The City Council approved the original agreement between the San Mateo County Human Services Agency <br />and the City of Redwood City for Information and Referral Services provided at the Fair Oaks Community <br />Center for FY 2016-17 through FY 2018-19 at its regular Council meeting on November 28, 2016. <br />In FY 2017-18, the Fair Oaks Community Center's Information and Referral Program served: <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />15 <br />
