Since 1977,
POST has protected more than 77,000 acres of permanent open space, farms, and parkland in San Mateo,
Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz Counties. These lands are now part of the National Park system, National
Wildlife Refuge system, California State Parks, county and city parks, regional preserves and private
farmland.
In spring 2018, POST contacted the City of Redwood City to share a vision of creating a regional trail project
connecting the Bay to the Sea by the year 2037. The "Bay to Sea Trail" would be an approximately 40 -mile
multiuse trail that guides and connects people to open space in the Peninsula between the San Francisco
Bay and the Pacific Ocean. This east -west trail would also connect people to regional trails within San
Mateo County.
For the past year, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director has participated in the initial
planning efforts forthe future trail to help identify obstacles, identify potential partners, and provide input
on mapping and future management requirements.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
120
