James, City Manager <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />M L Gordon, Assistant City Manager <br /> <br />Subject: Information Technology Agreement for Professional Services <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />It is recommended that the City Council: <br />1. Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to extend the Agreement between <br />the City of East Palo Alto and the City of Palo Alto for Information Technology <br />service and support from July 1, 2007 through August 31, 2007 not to exceed <br />$65,000; and <br />2. Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract with <br />Redwood City to provide Information Technology service and support to the City of <br />East Palo Alto from September 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 in an amount not to <br />exceed $253,800; and <br />3. By Motion, authorize the City Manager to initiate a Request for Proposal for an <br />organizational/operations assessment during this fiscal year to establish the benefits <br />of establishing an in-house Information Technology Division versus contracting the <br />service out and to provide the City Council with a report and recommendation at the <br />appropriate time. <br /> <br />Back!!round: <br />F or many years, the City of East Palo Alto has contracted with the City of Palo Alto to provide <br />Information Technology Services (ITS). For a variety of reasons, it was deemed appropriate, <br />as well as cost effective to contract out IT services. <br /> <br />For Fiscal Year 2006-2007, Council adopted Resolution #2675 authorizing the City Manager <br />to enter into an extended contract agreement between the City of East Palo Alto and the City of <br />Palo Alto to continue providing IT services (See Attachment A - Staff Report and Resolution <br />#2675). <br /> <br />For many years, Palo Alto has contracted out its IT maintenance, support and services <br />to cities throughout the Bay Area. Those most current cities include: <br />1. Atherton <br />2. East Palo Alto <br />3. Emeryville <br />4. Gilroy <br />5. Los Altos <br />6. Los Altos Hill <br />7. Morgan Hill <br />
