Receive situation, section and position briefing <br />from available and appropriate personnel <br />❑ Ascertain that key Care and Shelter personnel are in the EOC or have been notified <br />❑ Ensure that all Care and Shelter personnel have completed status check on equipment, facilities <br />and operational capabilities <br />❑ Ensure readiness to maintain concise records of position activities <br />• FORM: ICS -214 <br />Response: <br />❑ If the EOC is activated, contact the ARC and request a liaison for City EOC <br />❑ In coordination with the Operations Section Branches, identify the care and shelter needs of the <br />community <br />❑ Determine the need for opening evacuation centers or mass care shelters <br />❑ Identify and prioritize which pre -identified shelter sites will be used and determine their <br />availability <br />❑ Following an earthquake and after each significant aftershock, ensure that a Building Inspector <br />has inspected each shelter site prior to occupancy <br />❑ in conjunction with the ARC, ensure shelter management teams are organized and facilities are <br />ready for occupancy, meeting all health, safety and ADA standards <br />❑ Assist the ARC to ensure adequate food supplies, equipment and other supplies to operate mass <br />care facilities. Coordinate procurement and distribution through the Red Cross or the Food Unit <br />of the EOC Logistics Section if requested by Red Cross <br />❑ In conjunction with the ARC, open evacuation centers in low risk areas and request the PIO inform <br />public of locations as required <br />❑ In conjunction with the ARC, manage care and shelter activities (staffing, registration, shelter, <br />feeding, pertinent evacuee information, etc.) <br />❑ Coordinate with the Personnel/Volunteer Unit to contact volunteer agencies and recall City staff <br />to assist with mass care functions including basic first aid, shelter, sanitation needs and feeding <br />of evacuees <br />❑ Coordinate with the ARC and other volunteer agencies for emergency mass feeding operations <br />❑ Provide and maintain feeding areas within the shelter that are free from contamination and meet <br />all health, safety and ADA standards <br />C-148 <br />
