The Security Officer is responsible for 24-hour security of the EOC and supporting facilities. They <br />coordinate all visits to the EOC and control access to the EOC and adjacent parking areas in accordance <br />with policies established by the EOC Director. <br />Public Information Officer (PIO) <br />The PIO reports to the EOC Director. The PIO conducts media monitoring and ensures that government <br />officials, the media, and the public receive complete, accurate, and consistent information about the <br />status of City emergency operations. The PIO also serves as the coordination point for all media contacts <br />and releases. <br />Media Monitoring Unit <br />The Media Monitoring Unit reports to the PIO and examines all forms of media including social media for <br />incident information. They use the Information Collection Template in Appendix B to provide guidance on <br />information elements. They monitor and identify rumors and provide intelligence gathering support. If <br />assigned by the EOC Director, the Unit assists the PIO. <br />Agency Representatives <br />Agency Representatives are assigned to the EOC who may speak behalf of their agencies, within <br />established policy limits. Agency Representatives facilitate requests to or from their agencies, but normally <br />do not directly act on or process resource requests. They are responsible for obtaining situation status <br />information and response activities from their agencies and providing it to the EOC. <br />Operations Section <br />The Operations Section is responsible for coordination of all response elements applied to the disaster or <br />emergency. The Operations Section carries out the objectives of the EOC Action Plan and requests <br />additional resources as requested. The Operations Section consists of the following ICS positions. Detailed <br />position checklists are contained in Appendix C. <br />Operations Section Chief (OSC) <br />The OSC reports to the EOC Director. The OSC is responsible for executing the operational objectives <br />identified in the EOC Action Plan. The OSC establishes the appropriate level of Branch/Division <br />organization within the EOC Operations Section, continuously monitoring the effectiveness and modifying <br />accordingly. They direct coordination of all field response operations and supervise operational functions <br />assigned to the EOC, such as Fire, Law, Medical/Health, Care and Shelter, Public Works, and Building and <br />Safety. They provide the Planning/Intelligence Section with field status reports and other incident <br />information. The OSC determines resource requirements and provides them to the Logistics Section Chief. <br />They conduct operations briefings for the EOC Director and other staff as required or requested. <br />Fire & Rescue Branch <br />The Fire & Rescue Branch coordinates and prioritizes assignment of fire, disaster medical, hazardous <br />materials, and search and rescue resources for response operations.
