Association and the opportunity to meet and confer where required by law. Any <br />employee whose name shall be selected from the list of trial jurors to serve as <br />juror in a civil or criminal action pending in a Superior, Municipal, or Justice Court <br />of the State of California, or any Federal Court convening in the State of <br />California, or any employee required to report for the selection of a jury in any <br />of these courts, shall receive pay for the time such service requires his/her <br />absence from work; provided, however, that the City may require proof of the <br />time such service was required and any monies received from jury duty served <br />during scheduled work shifts shall be turned into the City; provided, further, that <br />the employee shall report to work if released from jury service prior to 5:00 P.M. <br />and does not have to report for jury service the following day. An employee <br />required to serve as a juror shall not have his/her regular starting or quitting <br />time changed as a result of being called for jury service. <br />18.8 Pregnancy Leave of Absence Without Pay <br />18.8.1 Pregnancy leave of absence without pay or benefits shall be granted <br />upon request to qualifying probationary and permanent employees <br />for that period of time requested, up to one (1) year. The <br />combination of pregnancy leave and parental leave will not exceed <br />one (1) year. <br />18.8.2 Pregnancy leave shall be granted when the following conditions have <br />been met: <br />18.8.2.1 An employee who is pregnant and seeks leave under this <br />provision shall report her condition to her immediate <br />supervisor, the Shift Battalion Chief or Personnel Officer. <br />18.8.2.2 At least thirty (30) days prior to the beginning of the <br />pregnancy leave, the employee shall submit to the <br />Personnel Officer the specific date she intends to begin <br />the leave, accompanied by her physician's written <br />statement attesting to the employee's ability to continue <br />performing the full schedule of her duties and <br />responsibilities. She shall continue on active duty until the <br />specific date, providing she performs the full duties and <br />responsibilities of her position and furnishes additional <br />health statements from her physician upon reasonable <br />request. In the event the employee is unable to perform <br />the essential duties and responsibilities of her position, <br />she shall be assigned to light duty until the specific leave <br />date, and shall continue to furnish additional health <br />statements from her physician upon reasonable request. <br />18.8.2.3 Prior to the establishment of a specific date for return to <br />duty, the employee shall submit to the Personnel Officer <br />a notice of intention to return to duty, accompanied by <br />41 <br />
