15.12 <br />remainder of the temporary upgrade assignment. For the purpose of Government Code section 20480, an <br />out -of -class appointment shall not exceed a total of nine hundred sixty (960) hours in a fiscal year. <br />Police Records Clerks and Community Service Officers will receive a temporary upgrade for any time they <br />are required to work at dispatcher relief duties. <br />In the event a position is temporarily upgraded to a position or assignment not resulting from the absence of <br />another employee on approved leave, and the temporary upgrade lasts six (6) consecutive months or more, <br />the City and the Union will meet to discuss the planned length of the temporary upgrade and City plans to fill <br />the position. <br />Certification Incentives for Building Maintenance Classes <br />This program is intended to provide an incentive for City employees in the classification of Building <br />Maintenance Worker and Senior Building Maintenance Worker to obtain and maintain the following <br />qualifying certifications. <br />Program Guidelines <br />Qualifying Certifications: <br />1) Universal Certificate in HVAC/R and RSI course or Sequoia Institute Course. <br />2) Certification of completion of the Building Operator Certification (BOC) program <br />3) Certification in Pool and Spa Operations <br />4) Certification in Playground Safety Inspections <br />The City and Union agree to meet during the term of the agreement to discuss local certification programs <br />that meet the above -stated requirement. <br />Incentives: <br />1 I Certification - <br />2r1d Certification - <br />3b Certification - <br />1% <br />2.5% (total of 3.5%) <br />2.5% (total of 6%) <br />Maximum certification compensation shall not exceed 6% for any individual. <br />All certifications are available to both classifications with restrictions and maximum as follows: <br />• Maximum of four (4) people to be compensated at one time for— Certificate in Pool Operations, and <br />Playground Safety Inspector. An additional two (2) employees may be compensated for Certificate in <br />Pool Operations during pool season. Building Maintenance Workers and Senior Building Maintenance <br />Workers will not be required to perform work assignments requiring any of the above certifications <br />without receiving certification pay. <br />• Senior Building Maintenance Workers shall have first choice at the 4 available slots. <br />• Building Maintenance Workers shall be eligible to receive certification compensation on any remaining <br />slots based on seniority and overall job performance. <br />• If at any time a Senior person (by title or years of service) wished to obtain a certification in an area that <br />has all four slots filled, the person with the least seniority in that slot will be required to forfeit their slot <br />on this certification to make it available to the senior person once certification has been obtained. <br />24 <br />
