(7) day work period. For employees on alternate work schedules, the regular work period shall <br />consist of beginning and end times determined in accordance with the employee's regular schedule. <br />1. For employees working a 9/80 work schedule (with a regular day off every other week), each <br />employee's designated work week shall begin exactly four (4) hours after the start of his/her <br />eight (8) hour shift on the day of the week that corresponds to the employee's alternating regular <br />day off. <br />2. For Communication Dispatchers on a 3/12 work schedule, the designated work week for each <br />employee on "A Shift' (who work a shift of 7 pm to 7 am) shall begin at 11:00 pm on Saturday <br />and end at 10:59 pm on the following Saturday. The designated work week for each employee <br />on "B Shift" (who work a shift of 7 am to 7 pm) shall begin at 11:00 am on Saturday and end at <br />10:59 am on the following Saturday. The designated work week for each employee on "C Shift" <br />(who work a shift of 1 pm to 1 am) shall begin at 5:00 pm on Saturday and end at 4:59 pm on <br />the following Saturday. <br />16.1.3 All employees shall be granted and take a rest period of fifteen (15) minutes during each regularly <br />scheduled four (4) hour work period. Rest periods shall be considered as time worked for pay <br />purposes. <br />16.1.4 The City and the Union agree that the availability of altemate/flexible work schedules is a valuable <br />benefit to employees in that they promote job satisfaction while also reducing traffic congestion and <br />air pollution. The use of altemate/flexible schedules is encouraged where it can be accommodated <br />without impairing departmental operations or service to the public. <br />16.1.5 The City may authorize an alternate work schedule (other than five eight-hour days) or a flexible <br />schedule (various work start and end times within a scheduled work shift) requested by an employee <br />or workgroup based on the operating needs of the specific department or work unit. <br />16.1.6 City Hall Closure: <br />The City reserves the right to close City Hall and other departments approximately between the <br />Christmas and New Year holidays. Employees in departments affected by the closure may use <br />Vacation, Compensatory Time Off, and Administrative Leave, Personal Business Leave or unpaid <br />leave on the closure days. Any employee who desires to work on a closure day will be permitted to <br />do so unless the employee's supervisor cannot identify appropriate work, location and supervision. <br />The City will notify the Union of a City department closures during the Christmas to New Year <br />holidays by June tsr. <br />16.1.7 Library Employee Workweek: <br />For Library employees assigned to a regular schedule of thirty-eight (38) hours per workweek, the <br />following fringe benefits will be prorated at a rate of 0.95: <br />1. Vacation <br />2. Sick Leave <br />3. Personal Business Leave, and <br />4. Holidays <br />28 <br />
