(ESRI) to provide Geographic Information System
(GIS) software to be used by City staff. However, the City has a long history of utilizing software from ESRI
prior to that agreement. Since 1996, the City has been using technology and services from ESRI as its
primary GIS resource for desktop and server software applications. These applications are the primary
software systems utilized by the City's GIS team, who support GIS operations throughout the organization.
These GIS efforts support the capital improvement program, community development, community
engagement, economic development, and fire operations.
In 2010, the City began using ESRI's server products, which enabled the City to store GIS data in a central
repository and made it possible to publish online map applications such as the publicly available
"Community GIS." The GIS server software is also an essential component of the data integration with
various other software systems, such as the permitting system (Traklt), geo-located permits (Buildingeye),
the police dispatch system (RIMS), and the City's asset management system (HiperWeb).
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
128
