6.0. - Page 1 of 4 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: July 22, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Acceptance of a Library Services and Technology Act grant award from the California State Library for <br />robot delivery of library materials to seniors, residents with disabilities, and other community members <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, authorize the City Manager to accept the Library Services and Technology Act grant award of <br />$99,760 from the California State Library and authorize the Library Director to execute the grant <br />agreement. <br />Adopt a resolution approving an appropriation amendment to Fiscal Year 2019-20 General Fund budget <br />to increase revenues by $99,760 and to increase expenditures by $99,760 for the grant acceptance and <br />project implementation, respectively. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Community for All Ages <br />BACKGROUND <br />In March 2019, the Redwood City Library Board adopted the 2019-2021 Redwood City Public Library <br />Service Priorities, which guide the strategic direction of the Library's development of programs and <br />services to respond to five community aspirations expressed by residents of Redwood City and North Fair <br />Oaks. <br />Under the Inclusion aspiration, one of the specified activities is to launch new programs and activities for <br />seniors, veterans, LGBTQ+ residents, people of color, people with disabilities, and opportunity youth <br />(those aged 16-24 who are not currently in school or employed), and work directly with these populations <br />in the development of new programs and library collections that meet their needs.
