Construct exterior walls with a minimum STC rating of STC -46. Install vent ducts connecting interior spaces to the exterior (i.e., bathroom exhaust, etc.) with at least two 90 degree turns in the duct. Install windows and doors in an acoustically -effective manner. Install sliding -window panels with an air -tight seal when in the closed position and the window frames caulked to the wall opening around the perimeter with a non -hardening caulking compound to prevent sound infiltration. Install exterior doors with an air -tight seal around the full perimeter when in the closed position. Finding: Implementation of Mitigation Measure NOW would reduce potential impacts related to an unacceptable noise environment for residential land uses to a less - than -significant level. Facts in Support of Finding: This mitigation measure appropriately identifies measures to reduce interior noise that are consistent with best management practices during operation. Implementation of these measures would reduce interior noise to acceptable levels established by the City. Impact N0I-2: Noise from construction activities would result in a substantial temporary or periodic increase in ambient noise levels in the project vicinity above levels existing without the project. Mitigation N0I-2: The project contractor shall implement the following measures during construction of the proposed project: Equip all construction equipment, fixed or mobile, with properly operating and maintained mufflers consistent with manufacturers' standards. Place all stationary construction equipment so that emitted noise is directed away from sensitive receptors nearest the active project site. Locate equipment staging in areas that would create the greatest possible distance between construction -related noise sources and noise -sensitive receptors nearest the active project site during all project construction. Ensure that all general construction related activities are restricted to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on weekdays. No construction shall be permitted on weekends or holidays. Post a sign at all entrances to the work site prior to commencement of the work for the purpose of informing all contractors and subcontractors and all other persons at the property of the basic limitations upon noise and construction activities provided in the noise ordinance. Designate a "disturbance coordinator" at the City of Redwood City who would be responsible for responding to any local complaints about construction noise. The disturbance coordinator would determine the cause of the noise complaint (e.g., starting too early, bad muffler) and would determine and implement reasonable measures warranted to correct the problem.
