RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 10, 1984 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby propose, on its motion, that those certain amendments hereinafter set forth be made to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and does hereby order that such proposed Charter amendments be submitted to the electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal

<br />DF.S:djg-c 12/8/83 <br /> <br />other device shall be prepared (1) so that any qualified elector <br /> <br /> <br />may vote for any Charter amendment proposition by punching or <br /> <br /> <br />otherwise specifying an affirmative vote in a space provided <br /> <br />therefor; and (2) so that any qualified elector may vote against <br /> <br /> <br />any such Charter amendment proposition by punching or otherwise <br /> <br />specifying a negative vote in a space provided therefor. <br /> <br /> <br />Where voting machines are used at said General Municipal <br /> <br />Election, said voting machines shall be arranged (1) so that any <br /> <br /> <br />qualified elector may vote for any Charter amendment proposition <br /> <br />by pulling down a lever adjacent to the word "YES" under or near a <br /> <br /> <br />statement of the Charter amendment proposition appearing on the <br /> <br />cardboard, paper or other material placed on the front of the <br /> <br /> <br />machine, and said act shall constitute a vote for the proposition; <br /> <br />and (2) so that any qualified elector may vote against any such <br /> <br />Charter amendment proposition by pulling down a lever adjacent to <br /> <br />the word "NO" under or near said statement of the proposition so <br /> <br /> <br />placed on the front of the machine, and said act shall constitute <br /> <br /> <br />a vote against the proposition. Said voting machines and the <br /> <br /> <br />preparation thereof shall comply in all respects with requirements <br /> <br />of law. <br /> <br /> <br />The returns of said election shall be made out and signed by <br /> <br /> <br />the election officers and as otherwise required by law and shall <br /> <br />be deposited with the City Clerk; and this Council shall meet at <br /> <br /> <br />its usual meeting place and canvass said returns at its regular <br /> <br /> <br />meeting on Monday, the 16th day of April, 1984 (being the first <br /> <br />2 <br />
