RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 10, 1984 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby propose, on its motion, that those certain amendments hereinafter set forth be made to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and does hereby order that such proposed Charter amendments be submitted to the electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal

<br />DF.S:djg-c 12/8/83 <br /> <br />Monday after said election), at the hour of 7:30 p.m., and declare <br /> <br />the results of said General Municipal Election. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Provisions proposed to be added by amendment are <br /> <br />indicated hereinafter by underlining in the text of the proposed <br /> <br />amendments, and provisions proposed to be deleted or repealed are <br /> <br />shown by lining through in such text. If approved, Charter <br /> <br />provisions affected by an amendment shall be enacted without such <br /> <br />underlining or lining through. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. <br /> <br />(a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> <br />on its own motion to add Section 72.5 to the Charter of the City <br /> <br />of Redwood City as follows: <br /> <br />"72.5. GENDER. As used in this Charter, the masculine <br />genderlI1Cludes the feminine, and the terms "man" or "men" where <br />appropriate shall be deemed to mean "person" or "persons", <br />respectively. Any references to one gender in Sections of this <br />Charter shall be changed to include both genders or to the <br />singular or plural form of "person", as appropriate, when such <br />Sections are amended." <br /> <br />(b) Said Charter amendment proposal shall be submitted to <br /> <br />the electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal <br /> <br />Election to be held in the City on April 10, 1984, in the form of <br /> <br />a proposal to amend said Charter by adding Section 72.5 thereof. <br /> <br />On the ballots and on the voting machines to be used at said <br /> <br />election, in addition to all other matters required by law to be <br /> <br />printed thereon, shall appear the following: <br /> <br />PROPOSITION A: Shall Section 72.5 be added to <br />the Redwood City Charter to provide that references to <br />gender in the Charter shall mean both masculine and <br />feminine, and that future amendments shall include both <br />genders? <br /> <br />3 <br />
