RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 10, 1984 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby propose, on its motion, that those certain amendments hereinafter set forth be made to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and does hereby order that such proposed Charter amendments be submitted to the electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal

<br />DF.S:djg-c 12/8/83 <br /> <br />"No eet:U'te:i:i:mflfi council member shall be eligible during the <br />term for which he or she was appointed or elected to hold any <br />other office or employment with the city, except as a member of <br />any board, commission, or committee thereof, of which he or she is <br />constituted such member by general law or by this Charter." <br /> <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />"SECTION 17. PLANNING COMMISSION: <br /> <br />"There shall be a city planning commission, which shall <br />consist of seven members, who shall be appointed by the Council, <br />to serve for three (3) years each, without compensation, none of <br />whom shall hold any other public office or position in the city. <br />All members of the commission shall, at the time of their <br />appointments and continuously during their incumbencies, be <br />residents and electors of the city. The commission shall elect <br />its efifl:i:rmflfi chairperson from among its members. Neither the City <br />Attorney, the Director of Public Works, nor any deputy or <br />assistant of either of them, shall have the right to vote or enter <br />into deliberations but shall be present in an advisory capacity <br />only. <br /> <br />"The planning commission shall exercise all powers and duties <br />granted it by ordinance or resolution of the Council now or <br />hereafter in effect and shall exercise such additional powers and <br />duties as may now or hereafter be provided for by such general <br />laws of the State as are not in conflict with this Charter, or any <br />ordinance or resolution of the Council. <br /> <br />"The members of the present city planning commission in <br />office at the time of this Charter taking effect shall continue in <br />office until the end of the terms for which they have been <br />respectively appointed." <br /> <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />"SECTION 18.
