Donald P. and Susan M. Allen
206 Sheffield Lane
Redwood City, CA 94061
650-556-0002

7A
~ IE I: IE ~ 'i!l IE age 63

SEP 11 2007 W

CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
PLANNING SERVICES

September 5, 2007

Maureen Riordan, Sr. Planner
City of Redwood City Planning Div.
10 1 7 Middlefield Rd.
Redwood City, CA 94063

Dear Ms. Riordan,

In response to your notice to neighbors of the proposed 43-unit, five-story condominium
project at 885 Woodside Road, we are writing to register our objection. Our primary
complaint is the impact on traffic. We live in Kentfield Commons and must travel
frequently on Horgan Avenue and :find that traffic is frequently backed up as it is. This is
caused not only by the heavy traffic on Woodside Road made worse by the signal north-
east of the property, but also by cars wanting to enter and leave the car wash and the
convenience market-gas station on the comer. The presence of up to 92 more vehicles
coming and going through that intersection, especially during moming and evening rush
hours when most residents will leave for and return from work, will significantly impact
an already overloaded condition.

Is the greed and profit motive of the developer so important that part of the attractiveness
of Redwood City must be damaged? Many people come to visit us and are discovering
the entertainment and culinary improvements of this city. This adds to the city coffers as
well. If housing units are so badly needed (we're not sure this is true), why not limit the
scale to perhaps half the proposed scale?

I would also expect that in time, the City may be forced to widen Woodside Road. This
added setback would be a death knell to the future of the project and add markedly to the
cost of eminent domain condemnation purchases.

If the interest of the City in protecting decent living conditions still is a priority, you will
either reject or, at least, support downsizing of this project.

Sincerely,

~~~
Donaid and Susan Allen
