RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. 10296 AUG 4 1986 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HEREIN CALLED FOR SUCH PURPOSE ON NOVEMBER 4, 1986; AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO TO CONSOLIDATE SAID ELECTION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. <br />DES:djc 8/1/86 <br /> <br />at the time of this charter taking effect shall <br /> <br /> <br />continue in office until the end of the terms for which <br /> <br /> <br />they were respectively elected. <br /> <br />"Any vacancy occurring in the Council shall be <br /> <br /> <br />filled by appointment by the remaining council members; <br /> <br />but in the event that said remaining council members <br /> <br />fail to fill such vacancy by appointment within 60 days <br /> <br /> <br />after such vacancy occurs, they must immediately cause <br /> <br />an election to be held to fill such vacancy; provided, <br /> <br /> <br />however, that any person appointed to fill such vacancy <br /> <br />shall hold office only until the next regular election, <br /> <br />at which date a person shall be elected to serve for <br /> <br /> <br />the remainder of such unexpired term. In case a member <br /> <br />of the Council is absent from the City for a period of <br /> <br />90 days, unless by permission of the Council, or ceases <br /> <br /> <br />to be a resident and elector of the City, such member's <br /> <br />office shall by the Council be declared vacant and the <br /> <br />same filled as in the case of other vacancies. <br /> <br /> <br />liThe Council may provide by resolution for <br /> <br /> <br />compensation of its members in an amount not to exceed <br /> <br />that allowed for Council members of general law cities <br /> <br /> <br />of equivalent population. Adjustments to the initial <br /> <br />rate of compensation established after the effective <br /> <br /> <br />date of the amendment hereto providing for compensation <br /> <br /> <br />by reference to Council member compensation of general <br /> <br />law cities may be made in amounts not to exceed those <br /> <br />6 <br />
