<br />, <br /> <br />".. <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />CIRaJLATION SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />DEF IN ITION <br /> <br />To manage, direct and coordinate the activities of the Circulation Section <br />including supervising all the staff assigned to one main 1 ibrary Circulation <br />Section; to provide training and to assure that all circulation procedures are <br />followed librarywide; and to perform highly complex staff functions. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives direction from Library Director of Assistant Library Director. <br /> <br />Exercises direct supervision over professional and clerical staff and indirect <br />supervision relating to all circulation system function. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Direct, oversee and participate in the development of the Department's work <br />plan; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review <br />and evaluate work products, methods and procedures. <br /> <br />Function as liaison between Library and central system concerning shared sys- <br />tem related and Public Library System policies, procedures and issues; serve <br />as Project Manager for library. <br /> <br />Coordinate training of staff on main library circulation desk functions and <br />operations; provide training for all appropriate staff on circulation system <br />functions; develop and modify training structure and methods. <br /> <br />Respond to automated system related inquiries or problems from other staff, <br />branches and Public Library System libraries. <br /> <br />Determine procedures for responding to and resolving patron inquiries as <br />related to materials control; respond to and resolve the most difficult patron <br />inquiries. <br /> <br />Determine procedures for responding to' staff and branches concerning patron <br />inquiries regarding pro- cedures, billing methods, and circulation records. <br /> <br />Write and update circulation procedure and manuals. <br /> <br />Provide a pool of trained on-call circulation staff from which all branches <br />can draw from to cover absences. <br /> <br />Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff <br />training; work with employees to Correct deficiencies; implement discipline <br />and termination procedures. <br /> <br />Develop and recommend po licies and procedures wh ich are consistent with cen- <br />tral automated system poliCies and procedures to facilitate circulation of <br />materials at main library and branches. <br /> <br />55 <br />
