1 8 4 9 11/S/81R AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; AND ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1979 EDITION, " AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repea1~d. SECTION 2. The required permit shall be obtained prior to the commence- <br />ment of any work. <br />"'See also Section 4.101. <br />"Section '12.21 Whenever the Chief or the Fire Marshal shall <br />disapprove an application or refuse to grant a license or permit applied <br />for under the provisions of this chapter or revoke such license or <br />permit after granting the same or when it is claim~d that the provisions <br />of the Fire Code do not apply or that the true intent and meaning of <br />the Code have been misconstrued or wrongly interpreted, the applicant <br />may appeal to the Council from the decision,of the Chief or the Fire <br />Marshal within ten (10) days from the date of the decision of the <br />Chief or the Fire Marshal. The decision of the Council on such appeal <br />shall be final. <br />"Section 12.22 The City Manager, Chief and the Fire Marshal <br />shall act as a committee to determine and specify, after giving <br />affected persons an opportunity to be heard, any new materials, <br />processes or occupancies, which shall require permits, in addition <br />to those now enumerated in the Fire Cede. <br />"Section 12.23 (a) Any person, firm or corporation whether <br />as principal, agent, employee, or otherwise, who shall violate or <br />cause the violation of any of the provisions of the Fire Code adopted <br />by Section 12.7 and as amended by this article, or fail to co~ply <br />with any order, license, or permit made or issued thereunder, or who <br />shall build in violation of any detailed statement of specifications <br />or plans submitted and approved thereunder and from which no appeal <br />has been taken, or who shall fail to comply with such an order, <br />license, or permit as affirmed or modified by the Councilor by a <br />Court of competent jurisdiction. within the time fixed therein, shall <br /> -23- <br /> -_.~ <br />
