SfP 1 3 1982 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; AND ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1982 EDITION, " AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. <br /> · -- ,- . <br /> '" (c) Notwithstanding the provisions of this Code or <br /> the provisions of any other Codes of the City of Redwood City, <br /> approved automatic sprinkler systems shall be installed in those <br /> buildings or structures: <br /> '" (l) The total floor area of which is 7,500 square feet or <br /> more; <br /> " , (2) Which are 50 feet or more in height as that term is <br /> defined in section 409 of the Uniform Building Code, 1979 <br /> Edi tion; or <br /> '" (3) Which are four ( 4) stories or more irrespective of <br /> height. <br /> '" (d) Whenever an existing automatic sprinkler system is <br /> extended, altered or augmented the Fire Prevention Bureau shall <br /> be notified prior to the start of construction and if deemed <br /> necessary by the Chief plans and specifications shall be <br /> submitted to the Fire Prevention Bureau for review and approval <br /> prior to the start of construction. <br /> "Section l2.14 Section lO.307 of the Fire Code is hereby amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> "'Section lO.307 FIRE AND SMOKE ALARM SYSTEMS. <br /> '" (a) Every apartment house three stories or more in height or <br /> containing more than l5 apartments and every hotel three stories or more <br /> in height or containing 20 or more guest rooms, shall have installed <br /> therein an approved automatic or manually operated fire alarm system <br /> designed to warn the occupants of the building in the event of fire. <br /> -12- <br /> --'.'" ,~..... <br />
