ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 15 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO SMOKING REGULATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Chapter 15 is hereby added to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Chapter 15. Smoking Regulation "Section 15.I. Findings and Purpose. <br /> DES:djk 04/12/88 (# 6) <br /> I :: djk 05/16/88R <br /> DES:djk 06/06/88R <br /> assignment thereto, requested in writing upon the <br /> health care facility's admission forms assignment <br /> to an area where smoking is permitted; and, <br /> (13 ) Polling Places. <br /> " (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this <br />section, any owner, operator, manager or other person who <br />controls any establishment described in this section may <br />declare that the entire establishment is a nonsmoking <br />establishment. " <br /> Section 15.4. Regulation of Smoking in Places of <br />Employment. <br /> " (a) It shall be the responsibility of employers to <br />provide smoke-free areas for nonsmoking employees within <br />existing facilities to the maximum extent possible, but <br />employers are not required to incur any expense to make <br />structural or other physical modifications to a place of <br />employment in providing such areas. <br /> " (b) Within 90 days of the effective date of this <br />chapter, each employer shall, for such employer's place of <br />employment located within the City adopt, implement, make <br />known and maintain a written smoking policy, which shall <br />include the following minimum requirements: <br /> (1) Any employee in a place of employment shall have <br /> the right to designate his or her work area as a <br /> non-smoking area and to post the same with an <br /> appropriate sign or signs, to be provided by the <br /> employer; <br /> 8 <br />
