ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 15 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO SMOKING REGULATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Chapter 15 is hereby added to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Chapter 15. Smoking Regulation "Section 15.I. Findings and Purpose. <br /> DES:djk 04/12/88 (#6) <br /> I :djk 05/16/88R <br /> DES:djk 06/06/88R <br /> (2 ) Smoking shall be prohibited in auditoriums, <br /> classrooms, conference and meeting rooms, <br /> elevators, hallways, medical facilities, and <br /> restrooms; <br /> (3 ) Separate and contiguous nonsmoking areas of not <br /> less than fifty percent of the seating capacity <br /> and floor space in cafeterias, lunchrooms and <br /> employee lounges, or separate and equal-sized <br /> cafeterias, lunchrooms and employee lounges for <br /> smokers and nonsmokers shall be provided; and <br /> (4 ) In any dispute arising under such smoking policy, <br /> the health concerns of the non-smoker shall be <br /> given precedence. <br /> " (c) The smoking policy shall be communicated to all <br />employees within 60 days of its adoption. <br /> " (d) All employers shall supply a written copy of the <br />smoking policy to each prospective employee. <br /> " (e) Notwithstanding any other provision of this <br />section, every employer shall have the right to designate <br />any place of employment, or any portion thereof, as a <br />nonsmoking area. <br /> "(f) The following places or circumstances are not <br />subject to the provisions of this section: <br /> (1 ) A private home which serves as an office <br /> workplace; <br /> (2 ) Any property owned or leased by another <br /> governmental agency; and <br /> 9 <br /> ... ~ . <br />
