ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 9.2, 9.40, 9.60, 9.70, 9.80, AND 9.110, AND ADDING DIVISION 4 TO ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE AVAILABILITY OF CODES ADOPTED BY REFERENCE, ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1988 EDITION, THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE STANDARDS, 1988 EDITION, THE UNIFORM BUILDING SECURITY CODE, 1988 EDITION, THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1988 EDITION, THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 1988 EDITION, THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 1988 EDITION, AND THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1987 EDITION, AND ESTABLISHING A SEISMIC HAZARD IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM, RESPECTIVELY THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Such action or actions may include, but are <br />not limited to, the following: <br /> " (a) Structural rehabilitation of the building to meet <br />or exceed the seismic provisions of the engineering <br />standards referenced in this Division; <br /> " (b) Change in use of the building to a residential use <br />or warehouse use exempted from compliance with this Division <br />pursuant to Section 9.142; <br /> " (c) Sale of the building upon the express condition <br />that the purchaser shall provide appropriate earthquake <br />hazard reduction measures complying with the standards <br />referenced in this Division; <br /> " (d) Vacating the building pending further <br />investigation of earthquake hazard reduction measures; <br /> .. (e) Demolition of the building, or those portions <br />thereof constituting earthquake hazards; or <br /> " (f) With respect to any building which qualifies as <br />'historical property' as determined pursuant to the <br />provisions of Health and Safety Code Section 37602, <br />retrofitting in accordance with the State Historical <br />Building Code. <br /> "Section 9.147. Document Review. Engineering reports <br />and letters of intent required pursuant to the provisions of <br />Sections 9.142 and 9.146, respectively, shall be reviewed by <br />the Building Official for compliance with the provisions of <br />this Division.
