All buiidings more than 75 feet above the lowest level of RCFD vehicle
access (elassed "high-rise" buildings) shall have approved cambination
automatic fire sprinklers installpd; a secondary on-site water supply, in
addition to an approved primary water supply capable of supplying the
required fire flaw; a standby power-generator set; and two remotely located
Fire Department connections.
2. Fire hydrants shall be provided along required fire apparatus roads and
adjacent public streets in conformance with the Unifarm Buifding Code.
3. On-site fire hydrants and mains capable of supplying the required fire flow
(5,000 gallons per minute) shall be provided when any portion of a building or
facility is in excess of 15feet from a water suppiy on a public street.
4. Fire apparatus access raads shall be provided when any portion of a building
or facility is located more than '150 feet from fire apparatus access as
measured by an approved route around the exterior of the building ar facility.
No point in a sfructure shall be more than 150 feet away fram an access point
(such that fire hoses do not have to extend over 150 feet}.
5. Piers, wharves, or floats more than 250 feet from fire apparatus access shall
be provided with an approved wet standpipe system.
The City may consider other alternafives to these requirements if it determines that such
alternafives are feasible and such access will no#jeopardize emergency response.
Findings: Implementation of #hese measures is feasible and would reduce this
impact ta a less-fhan-significanf level.
G. Emerqencv Access Impacts
otential Impact 10-7: The project has the potential to conflict with RCF
standards for road design {e.g., 20 feet af unabstructed width and 45-fooU22-foot minimum
outside and inside turning radii, respectively). Any potential conflicts with RCFD road design
standards cauld cause emergency access deficiencies, representing a potenfially significant
impacf.
Mitigation 10-7: As a condition of tentative subdivision map approval, require
{a) City review and approval of the proposed tentative subdivision map, and (b) demonstratian
by the applicant that tne project complies with all applicable City and RCFD raad design and
emergency access standards. The City rray consider other al#ernatives to these requirements if
it determines that such alternatives are feasible and such access wiil not jeopardize emergency
response.
Findings: Implementation of this measure is feasible and waufd reduce the
impact to a less-fhan-signicanf level.
AttylResolReso.1772 31
121307
