permits or other entitlements, including the requirement for City
inspections during construction of the Project.
(h) Bioloq¥. The Project will result in a direct loss of approximately
10.9 acres of wetlands within the Property and 2 acres outside, but
adjacent to, the Property, as a result of fill and excavation activities.
Said adverse effects shall be mitigated through off-site restoration
of wetlands comprised of approximately 20 acres on Deep Water
Slough Island, the improvement of the remaining upland habitat on
said Island, and the restoration of approximately 107 acres of
existing wetlands on said Island. Said mitigation is contingent upon
acquisition of said Island by the Project Proponent from the Port of
Redwood City. Said mitigation shall be monitored by the California
Department of Fish and Game or the U. S. Fish and Wildlife
Service for not less than 10 years, which monitoring shall be
funded by the Project Proponent.
The Project shall cause the loss of native Califomia plants. Said
impact shall be mitigated through the use of characteristic native
plant species found within the vicinity of the Project for landscaping
and avoidance of exotic species. Mitigation shall also include
avoidance of shadowing the mud flats and existing cord grass
vegetation on the south banks of West Point Slough by vegetation
proposed to be planted on the northern perimeter of the Project.

DES:rg 21
Reso-25a
G:~shared\Redwood~Council
03/04/96
04/01/96R
