6.C. - Page 5 of 7 <br />SIDE LETTER BETWEEN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND <br />INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS (IAFF) LOCAL 2400 <br />RE: EDUCATION INCENTIVE PAY <br />suspended shall resume prospectively for employees under the new terms agreed to by the <br />parties. <br />Effective the first full pay period following City Council approval of this side letter, Education <br />Incentive Pay shall be paid as follows: <br />7.12.1 College Credits: <br />A. Employees in the classifications of Firefighter/Engineer and Fire Captain <br />hired by the City prior to January 1, 2019, who have successfully <br />completed thirty (30) college credits, twenty-four (24) of which are in <br />Fire Science and six (6) in Related Electives, including Emergency <br />Medical Training, will receive the equivalent of two and one-half percent <br />(2.5%) Base Pay. <br />Employees may not simultaneously receive Education Incentive Pay <br />under this Section 7.12.1(A), and two and one-half percent (2.5%) <br />Education Incentive Pay for an Associate of Science (A.S.) or Associate <br />of Arts (A.A) degree under Section 7.12.2(A). <br />B. Employees in the classifications of Firefighter/Engineer and Fire Captain <br />hired by the City prior to January 1, 2019, who have successfully <br />completed sixty (60) college credits, twenty-four (24) of which are in <br />Fire Science, including Emergency Medical Training, will receive an <br />additional equivalent of two and one-half percent (2.5%) Base Pay, for <br />a total of five percent (5%). <br />7.12.2 College Degrees: <br />A. All employees, regardless of hire date, who have successfully completed <br />an Associate of Science (A.S.) or Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree from <br />or accepted by an accredited college or university, will receive the <br />equivalent of two and one-half percent (2.511/o) Base Pay. Employees <br />with multiple AS/AA degrees may not receive more than two and one- <br />half percent (2.511/o) at this level. <br />B. All employees, regardless of hire date, who have successfully completed <br />a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree from or <br />accepted by an accredited college or university, will receive an <br />equivalent of five percent (5%) Base Pay, <br />7.12.3 State Fire Training Certifications: Employees shall be eligible for Education <br />Incentive Pay for specified State Fire Training certifications as follows: <br />8728379.2 RE180-020 <br />A. Employees in the classification of Firefighter/Engineer who are hired by <br />the City on or after January 1, 2019, and who have successfully <br />completed the California State Fire Training Company Officer <br />Certification (i.e., completion of the coursework required for the <br />certification, and completion of as much of the certification task book as <br />possible at the employee's current rank, subject to the approval of the <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />205 <br />
