6.D. - Page 1 of 3 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: December 9, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Final acceptance of Caltrain Grade Crossing Improvements at Broadway Street, Main Street and Whipple <br />Avenue <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, accept the Caltrain Grade Crossing Improvements - Section 130 Program Project, and authorize <br />the release of bonds and retention according to City procedures. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Section 130 Railway/Highway Crossing Program provides funding for safety improvements at existing <br />railway -highway crossings with the goal of reducing the number, severity, and potential hazards to roadway <br />users. The program is a cooperative effort between the Federal Highway Administration, California <br />Department of Transportation, California Public Utilities Commission, railway agencies, and local agencies. <br />Three railway -highway crossings in Redwood City were evaluated and approved for funding under the <br />Section 130 Program. <br />• Whipple Avenue <br />• Broadway <br />• Main Street <br />On November 27, 2017, Council awarded the Caltrain Grade Crossing Improvements - Section 130 Program <br />construction contract to Granite Rock Company of San Jose for $841,360.00. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />208 <br />
