Additionally, signs shall be provided on
the south side of Shearwater Parkway to direct pedestrians to the
appropriate crosswalk. This measure is also intended to provide for
adequate bicycle access to and from the proiect site.

Same as for TRANS-la.

a.

-_.
Same as for TRANS-

a.

TRANS-

TRANS-2a: To discourage pedestrians and bicyclists from crossing Same as for
the drop-off and pick-up area access points, no crosswalks should be
provided across the driveways. Additionally, no sidewalk should be
provided along Shearwater Parkway in front of the loading area.
This measlIfe would serve two purposes: I) to minimize conflict
points between pedestrians and vehicles, and 2) reduce the
likelihood of drop-off activities on Shearwater Parkway by drivers
avoiding queues in the on-site loading area The site access and on-
site circulation elements for The Preserve development are
presented in Draft ElR Figure IIl-9. Based on the current site plan,
the project includes a sidewalk between the two school driveways.
If a sidewalk is provided at this location, the sidewalk shall be
physically separated from the roadway and by low-level landscaping
to discourage use of Shearwater Parkway as a passenger loading

Same as for TRANS-I a for the
improvements within the public
right-of-way.

-.
Same as for TRANS-I a for the
improvements within the public
right-of-way.

la for the
the public

Same as for TRANS-
improvements within
right-of-way.

Compliance for the school site
driveway is to be addressed in the
Belmont-Redwood Shores School
District MMRP.

zone.
- -_.'--'-~---
TRANS-2b: The school's exit driveway shall have both an
exclusive right-turn and left-turn lane out. The proposed western
school driveway is located approximately 250 feet east of the curve
at the existing bridge. To facilitate movement out ofthe driveway
and enhance school traffic flow, a 1 DO-foot refuge area should be
provided for left-turn vehicles exiting the school site. A minimum
sight distance of 220 feet should be provided for left-turn vehicles
exiting the project site to see oncoming southbound traffic on Shear-
water Parkway. The estimated maximum queue into the school
driveway is six vehicles. Therefore, a 1 75-foot left turn pocket into
the school driveway should be provided for vehicles traveling
eastbound on Shearwater Parkway.

"'U
Q)
CO
CD
~~

4

--.

Note: Planning Commission changes are shown as strike thru and underlined text
U:\My Doc uments\Area H\MMRP\Clean Preserve MMRP with PC changes 1.28.08.doc
