7.A. - Page 183 of 285 2019 Nonresidential New Construction Reach Code Cost Effectiveness Study <br />Figure 4 provides a summary of the cost of each measure and the applicability of each measure to the <br />prototype buildings. <br />3.1.1 Envelope <br />♦ Modify Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) fenestration <br />♦ Office and Retail - All Climate Zones: reduce window SHGC from the prescriptive value of 0.25 <br />to 0.22 <br />♦ Hotel <br />♦ Climate zones 1, 2, 3, 5, and 16: Increase the SHGC for all nonresidential spaces from the <br />prescriptive value of 0.25 to 0.45 in both common and guest room spaces. <br />♦ Climate zones 4, and 6-15: Reduce window SHGC from the prescriptive value of 0.25 to <br />0.22, only for common spaces. <br />In all cases, the fenestration visible transmittance and U -factor remain at prescriptive values. <br />♦ Fenestration as a function of orientation: Limit the amount of fenestration area as a function of <br />orientation. East -facing and west -facing windows are each limited to one-half of the average <br />amount of north -facing and south -facing windows. <br />3.1.2 HVAC and SWH <br />♦ Drain water heat recovery (DWHR): Add shower drain heat recovery in hotel guest rooms. DWHR <br />captures waste heat from a shower drain line and uses it to preheat hot water. Note that this <br />measure cannot currently be modeled on hotel/motel spaces, and the Reach Code Team <br />integrated estimated savings outside of modeling software based on SWH savings in residential <br />scenarios. Please see Appendix Section 6.3 for details on energy savings analysis. <br />♦ VAV box minimum flow: Reduce VAV box minimum airflows from the current T24 prescriptive <br />requirement of 20 percent of maximum (design) airflow to the T24 zone ventilation minimums. <br />♦ Economizers on small capacity systems: Require economizers and staged fan control in units with <br />cooling capacity >_ 33,000 Btu/hr and <_ 54,000 Btu/hr, which matches the requirement in the 2018 <br />International Green Construction Code and adopts ANSI/ASHRAE/ICC/USGBC/IES Standard 189.1. <br />This measure reduces the T24 prescriptive threshold on air handling units that are required to <br />have economizers, which is > 54,000 Btu/hr. <br />♦ Solar thermal hot water: For all -electric hotel only, add solar thermal water heating to supply the <br />following portions of the water heating load, measured in solar savings fraction (SSF): <br />♦ 20 percent SSF in CZs 2, 3, and 5-9 <br />♦ 25 percent in CZ4 <br />♦ 35 percent SSF in CZs 1 and 10-16. <br />H <br />RE <br />2019-07-25 <br />435 <br />
