He stated that the committee is concerned about issues and that they would not recommend something that would divide the community. In particular, the committee will look at consistency, especially in regards to Area H. He stated that there is no specific date scheduled for when this matter will come before the Council. Mayor Foust stated that the next Utilities Committee meeting will be on January 9, 2008. Bruce Potts, a resident of Redwood City for almost 35 years, stated that help is needed regarding safety on the streets. He submitted packets to Council (on file) and related incidents of a specific pit bull's attacks where other animals had to be put down due to the viciousness of the attacks. He stated that he has contacted the Peninsula Humane Society (PHS) but has not yet received adequate help. He submitted a copy of a petition with over 50 signatures and stated that they would appreciate any help that Council may be able to provide. Mayor Foust stated that she left him a voicemail in response to his email and had also heard from another neighbor of his. She stated that Police Sergeant Mulholland, Interim City Manager Ingram, and the County Health Department have been contacted to work together to address these issues and to ensure that there will be follow up. Bruce Hamilton, Executive Director of the Human Investment Project (HIP) Housing, stated that they had their 35 anniversary this year working to find homes for people and those they directly served amount to 1,000 people a year. He stated that they had their own drawing contest for elementary school children from Millbrae, Half Moon Bay, Foster City, and San Mateo (cities rotate yearly) to draw pictures of their houses and what it means to them, and that they select twelve of these pictures for their calendar. He distributed copies to Council and staff and requested that they be posted somewhere prominent. Keith Bautista, representing the Redwood City San Mateo County Chambers of Commerce, announced that the Progress Seminar will be April 11 to 13 in Monterey and it is an important event for the County. He stated that there is only room for about 250 and already about 100 people have signed up. Council Member Pierce stated that one of the items passed was the reappointment of former Mayor Bob Bury to the San Mateo County Mosquito Abatement Board of Trustees. She stated her appreciation for his many years of active service and she noted that the Board has also stated how much it appreciates and enjoys his participation.
