8.A. - Page 8 of 28 <br />• Maintain the operational integrity of the Caltrain system in general and during construction <br />activities specifically <br />• Advance the incremental improvement of the Caltrain corridor and system in support of <br />Caltrain's 2040 Service Vision including the development of a mid -Peninsula transfer hub <br />• Design the future station to promote safe and convenient multimodal access with an <br />emphasis on non -single occupant vehicle modes <br />• Connect adjacent neighborhoods to downtown Redwood City with a network of complete <br />streets, high-quality local transit, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities <br />• Increase mobility, accessibility and safety by separating the grade of railroad tracks and <br />streets <br />• Ensure that rail and station designs support the integration of a future Dumbarton Rail <br />Corridor service <br />• Reduce vehicle miles traveled to help achieve local and regional greenhouse gas <br />reduction targets <br />Land use goals <br />• Facilitate private redevelopment while ensuring that adequate space is provided for future <br />transit needs <br />• Establish implementation phasing that is context sensitive, supporting a program of transit <br />expansion and private development over time <br />• Create a transit -oriented destination reflective of the regional infrastructure planned for the <br />area, including a range of jobs, housing, services, public open space and other public <br />amenities <br />• Integrate the transit center and train station into the surrounding downtown <br />• Ensure the provision of a comprehensive package of public benefits as part of rezoning <br />and development, including affordable housing and public space <br />• Utilize and enhance the value of JPB-owned and District -owned assets to the collective <br />benefit of the individual transit systems and the public they serve <br />• Identify a range of public and private funding and financing tools, project delivery methods, <br />and public-private partnership models to address: <br />o planning, environmental and engineering studies <br />o capital infrastructure costs <br />o ongoing maintenance and operations <br />REV: 05-07-2020 PR <br />ATTY/AGR.2020.071/SMCTA and JPB (Page 3 of 23) 171 <br />
